About the Studio

941 Apps is a small design and engineering studio in Pasadena, California. It exists to make a specific kind of software: small, opinionated, finished. Things that solve one problem well and don't pretend to solve five.

The studio is operated by . Blake spent twelve years at ZipRecruiter, most recently as VP of Product Design, and is currently Chief Technology Officer at Introl. 941 Apps is the work he does outside that — products he wanted to use himself, built end-to-end, shipped to anyone else who finds them useful.

The flagship

ResumeGeni is the studio's largest product. It is a resume builder and ATS-optimization platform for job seekers, built on a decade of hiring-technology experience. Legally, ResumeGeni is 941 Apps, LLC doing business as ResumeGeni — same studio, dedicated product. The product lives at resumegeni.com.

What else the studio ships

Alongside ResumeGeni, the studio maintains a portfolio of iOS, macOS, and web apps. None of them are venture-funded. None of them are built to be sold. They exist because somebody, usually Blake, wanted them to exist.

  • Ace Citizenship — the free U.S. citizenship test prep app with all 128 official civics questions and spaced repetition.
  • Get Bananas — a hand-drawn shopping list that syncs across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
  • Return — a minimal, zen meditation timer for the entire Apple ecosystem.
  • Ki — a private iPhone browser with trackers blocked by default. No accounts, no telemetry, no ads.
  • Tile — a one-click window manager for macOS.
  • Tappy Color — a fast-paced color matching game built with Chris Greer.
  • Captain's Log — a daily operational journal for builders, across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Three more apps — Learn Materia, Reps, and Cels — are in beta.

How we work

The studio operates as a single-operator shop with collaborators brought in by project. The discipline is the discipline of small things: ship the smallest thing that works, then live with it, then improve the part that you actually use. Nothing about that scales, and that's the point.

Services available outside the product portfolio include product design, iOS and macOS development, and brand identity work. Inquiries: [email protected].

Where to find the studio

The studio's voice lives in two places. Product launches and studio updates appear on the 941 Apps blog. Longer essays on craft, AI-assisted development, and design live on Blake's site at blakecrosley.com.
